Bedford Chairs: Bertoia Bar Stool and Chair Replicas

The Bedford series features Maxwell Blake's quality reproductions of the Bertoia bar stool, counter stool, diamond chair, chaise and side chairs. Part of the Harry Bertoia Collection – a seating range designed for Knoll in 1952 – it is internationally recognized as one of the great achievements of 20th century furniture design.

Born in Italy in 1915, Harry Bertoia moved to America at age 15 becoming a talented artist, sound art sculptor, and modern furniture designer.

His iconic seating collection transformed industrial wire rods into new furniture forms, like the popular Bertoia bar stool. Innovative, comfortable and strikingly beautiful, the furniture pieces' delicate appearance belie their strength and durability. Bertoia said of his creations: "They are mainly made of air, like sculpture. Space passes right through them."

Our replica Bertoia bar stool, chaise, side dining chair, diamond chair and counter stools closely honor the original collection’s designs. They are constructed from quality, scratch, stain, and chip resistant polished chrome-plated steel or colored frames. Additional seating comfort is provided with the customizable seat pad available in various fabric or leather options, or luxurious wool blends for the fully upholstered, cushion-covered version of the diamond chair. The steel legs are finished with plastic non-slip glider clips to protect your flooring and stabilize the chair, and several pieces are suitable for outdoor or commercial use.

With their classic, modern design, the Bertoia bar stool and chair collection remains a fascinating study in bent metal and a fixture of mid-century design that will enhance any seating environment.
