This is Maxwell Blake's replica of the 1950s Saarinen Executive armchair in leather, with wood legs. An ever popular seating choice of industry professionals such as architects and interior designers, this chair is one of our top sellers thanks to its beautiful design and affordable price tag.

Considered by some to be a purist when it came to his approach towards architecture and interior design, Eero Saarinen sought the essential idea and reduced it to the most effective structural solution within an overall unity of design. To that end, his Executive Chair series recognized the importance of user comfort; Saarinen became the first to construct a chair shell from fiberglass, a pliable material that flexes in response to body weight.

At Maxwell Blake, we pay homage to the original design, making every effort to produce a chair that is comparable in quality. We use real, steam bent, solid wood legs - not plywood - including American Walnut or Natural, Black or Wenge (espresso) stained Ash wood. The legs are complemented by your choice of luxurious leather upholstery, over foam cushioning, with matching full surround welt detailing. The Saarinen armchair is also sold separately with the classic stainless steel leg and includes armless and caster wheel versions. The Saarinen executive armchair makes a handsome seating option for a variety of spaces including the dining room, office, or living room accent chair.

Using Your Own Material

What if you don’t find a fabric or leather that works for you? Or, what if you want a completely custom look in your room? Then a "COM" or "COL" fabrics will be your best bet. The acronym "COM" stands for "Customer's Own Material," while "COL" stands for 'Customer's Own Leather."

For a small fee, we can use most Upholstery-grade materials on most upholstered furniture pieces. There are several other things to keep in mind when you select a COM fabric or COL leather for your new furniture. First, be sure to find out the

pattern repeat of your fabric; this information will help the manufacturer figure out how much fabric you will need to send for the furniture pieces you plan to order. Using a fabric with a large repeat will require more fabric in order to match the pattern at the seams on your sofa or chair. You can use this Guideto help determine material yardage required.

Also, keep in mind that using your own fabric or leather will void the material warranty on your furniture and that it is the responsibility of the customer to specify exactly how they wish the material to layover, how to pattern-match and whether or not piping is required. We cannot guarantee the end product will be exactly as you envision it if we are not told exactly how you want it. All COM and COL are non-returnable and non-exchangeable.

Rush Service

Standard custom production requires approximately 10-14 weeks lead time to arrive to have your custom made item ready to deliver. This is because it is produced overseas. However, Maxwell Blake offers a Rush Service whereby your custom order will be produced by our fine fabricators here in New York or, will be shipped from our overseas facility by Air rather than Sea. This cuts the lead time to approximately 2-4 weeks. This will increase the cost of your item and since every piece and circumstance is different we ask that you contact a specialist for a customized quote for needs.

This service will generally reduce the Lead Time often times to just a few weeks. If you are interested in such a service, please contact us through one of the methods below to get detailed cost information for your specific needs. Our knowledgeable and professional staff awaits your call!
